The 2025 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering is honouring seven laureates whose work in machine learning has shaped the creation of artificial intelligence: Jensen Huang, Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton, Fei-Fei Li, Yann LeCun, Bill Dally and John Hopfield.

These pioneers of AI (excluding Professor Hopfield, who was unable to attend) talk to Madhumita Murgia, the Financial Times’ artificial intelligence editor, about their defining achievements and how these innovations are changing the world we live in today.

This session is taking place during the FT’s two-day Future of AI summit in London, which began on Wednesday. For more agenda-setting conversations between AI leaders and FT journalists, register for the conference in person or online.
