Question 1: Voter I.D. Requirement

Voters will decide whether to amend the Wisconsin Constitution to require photo identification to vote. Wisconsin law already requires voters to show identification, but passage of this Republican-backed ballot question would make it harder for that requirement to be removed by the courts or the legislature.

Jill Underly, Wisconsin’s state superintendent of public instruction, is seeking a second term in an office that helps oversee the state’s public schools. Though the race is officially nonpartisan, Ms. Underly is running with support from the Wisconsin Democratic Party and teachers’ unions, while her challenger, Brittany Kinser, is supported by the Republican Party.
